Good to see you back in our pages David - the apparent general lack of interest from our colleagues makes one quite despondent. The passing of our Roger left quite a hole in my life. Good to see you won your battle against local bigwigs.
Dirk,
Have just read your last notice in Latest News. Sorry to hear about Mick Hubery who crossed the bar so long ago. He's one of those guys whose voice I could still hear from way back then when you mentioned him. Nasal voice and a stacatto (sp?) laugh.
Visited my old friends grave again in Deal in 1981 when we drove down to London and stayed in the UJC. Both very very sad loses. Always meant to look up the photo of his headstone and supply you with the date. Thanks for info. Didn't know Jack Carstairs. I'm almost sure Nige Gough's date of passing was 2nd March 2002 but please don't publish that until I confirm later.
The time and date stamp on Guestbook submissions is an improvement on the past method but the computer clock is an hour ahead of mine.
Regards
Dirk I am afraid the computer I bought in Macro more than a year ago remains unopened on top of our wardrobe. My daughter is home and I am using her's.
Put in a new oil fired central heating system without prior approval of Building Control and they threw the book at me when I sought 'regularisation'. - However, it could have been worse as they could have required me to replace my tank with a "bunded" one as well as requiring me to move it 750 mm away from my boundary fences as it is within 10 metres of a watercourse. Have also to get Fire Authority approval for all aspects of building mods conducted and supply a 'Central Heating Commissioning Certificate' - and I thought the only thing the Authorities were interested in here was 'de-commissioning'.
Have you heard of "bunded tanks"? I told them if I had to fit one they could appoint my home as a 'show house' as even adjacent council houses did not satisfy this requirement.
Sorry to go on Dirk but this is by way of explanation why I have not been 'footering' with my virgin computer.
One day I'll get around to commissioning it.
Best wishes
Hi David,
Glad to see you back. Is your PC in working order again? Thanks for the Christmas card, and good wishes.
Dirk
Thanks for your Christmas & New Year greetings Michael. I hope you and your nearest and dearest also enjoyed same.
Noticed you have been quieter than usual since Roger passed on. Yes I miss him too but I hope you start talking again soon.
Best wishes

Hi Guys,
Here's hoping you all have a lovely Christmas and all you can wish for in the New Year

Hi All,
Great to hear that Rick and Mary Roughton are safely back on dry land after their exrended travels. I had a letter from Dave Hodges, saying that he had met up with them in Long Eaton, and they had a good natter.
Dave is lined up for a total knee cap replacement on 7th December so we wish him well.
In his quest to keep involved in all things S31 David has sought out and sent me copies of the death certificates of Ron Betts (1970), and Tom Barr (1995), both of whom are noted on our 'Lest We Forget' page.
Brian Healey has moved to a delightful island off the coast of New Zealand, and has sent me a couple of pictures of this paradise - see today's News Page.
All for now

Have great few days reunion with Rick Roughton (accompanied by his wife Mary) when they visited us in N Ireland. As usual I was not fully prepared and Rick had to help me assemble his bed on arrival! But we got the job done and the bed worked. Spent a little time in rugged Donegal together but these reunions are always too short.
They both looked great and none the worse for their 10 years salt absorbtion on their circumnavigation.
Hi Dirk and Mick
Yes I'm back in the not so sunny south for a while. Shocked to hear about Roger. I'd love to meet up for a drop of the old amber nectar sometime.
Len

Hi Guys, Good to hear that Len B has surfaced. I hope he is well.
Our readers might like to know that Roger B's old golf club held a tournamount in his memory last week - they raised £900 for the hospice that cared for Roger and hope to do it annually. Some epitaph.
